Common Issues

  1. Reinvite the bot with the correct permissions:

    • Go to pixlbot.app and click “Add to Discord”
    • Make sure applications.commands scope is included
  2. Wait for Discord to sync - Can take up to an hour for new servers

  3. Check bot permissions - The bot needs basic permissions to register commands

  1. Check bot role position - For moderation commands, the bot’s role must be higher than target users
  2. Verify channel permissions - Bot needs Send Messages, Embed Links, and View Channel

  1. Check if bot is online - Look for the green dot next to Pixl in the member list
  2. Verify permissions - Bot needs View Channel and Send Messages
  3. Check our status page - status.pixlbot.app
  1. Try again - Discord sometimes has temporary issues
  2. Check bot permissions in that specific channel
  3. Ensure the bot isn’t rate limited - Wait a few seconds

  1. Verify channel is set: /settings view
  2. Check bot permissions in the log channel:
    • View Channel
    • Send Messages
    • Embed Links
  3. Ensure the channel exists - It may have been deleted

The bot can only log events that happen while it’s online and has permissions. Events that occurred while the bot was offline or in channels it can’t see won’t be logged.

Run /settings ticket category <category> to set where tickets are created.

  1. Check the support role is set: /settings ticket supportrole <role>
  2. Verify the bot has Manage Channels permission
  3. Ensure the category allows the bot to manage permissions
  1. Set a log channel: /settings ticket logchannel <channel>
  2. Verify bot has Send Messages and Attach Files in that channel

The bot’s highest role must be above the role it’s trying to assign.

Fix:

  1. Go to Server Settings > Roles
  2. Drag the Pixl role above roles it needs to manage
  1. Check permissions: Bot needs Add Reactions in the channel
  2. Verify configuration: /reactionrole list
  3. Test the emoji: Ensure it’s a valid emoji (not from another server)
  1. Verify menu exists: /buttonrole list
  2. Check role hierarchy: Bot role must be higher than target role
  3. Ensure role isn’t managed: Integration/bot roles can’t be assigned

Set a channel with /settings giveaway <channel>.

  1. Check if there are valid entries
  2. Entries may fail validation (required role, account age, etc.)
  3. View giveaway details: /giveaway info <message_id>
  1. The giveaway may have ended
  2. Check if you meet entry requirements
  3. Verify the bot is online

  1. Check if enabled: /automod status
  2. Verify the rule is on: /automod toggle <rule>
  3. Check exemptions: Staff roles/channels may be exempt
  1. Adjust thresholds: /automod set <rule> <key> <value>
  2. Add exemptions: /automod exempt add role @TrustedRole

  1. Check threshold: Maybe the threshold is too high
  2. Verify channel is set: /starboard config
  3. Check if enabled: /starboard toggle
  4. Check ignored channels: The source channel might be ignored
  1. Self-star disabled? Check if the user is starring their own message
  2. Bot reactions don’t count - Only user reactions are counted
